OkTrends is another blog which wins over for incredibly creative and interesting content. They only write one post a month, but it is packed with fascinating dating statistics (they also run OkCupid, a dating site, which is where they get all their data). Every post is full of crazy and interesting dating analysis, including clever and easy-to-understand graphs. One post Time Magazine highlighted was "Don't Be Ugly by Accident!," which looked at photos members uploaded of themselves, the cameras they used and the reactions of other users. From this post they offered real suggestions for the type of camera with the best shooting results and the time of day for the best lighting. It is an incentives-based program designed to encourage businesses to meet or exceed environmental standards.
The Green Business Program would like to recognize those businesses leading the way in the environmental field within the County of Santa Cruz. Their good work will inspire other businesses to follow their example. We want to show that businesses can be both green and profitable-and good members of our communities.To be certified “green," participating businesses must be in compliance with regulatory agencies and meet program criteria for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste. Our program assists, recognizes and promotes businesses that choose to operate their businesses in a more environmentally responsible way. We offer motivated businesses an easy-to-use framework for improving environmental performance.The Green Business Program was created in 2003. The Program currently provides assistance and certification for vehicle service facilities and restaurants. In the near future, the program will aim to assist and certify printers, hotels, landscapers, dry cleaners, and wineries in Santa Cruz County.
